I have a new favorite place in Florida for looking at wildlife. I do love the Everglades, but Babcock Ranch is Old Florida and off the beaten path and underdeveloped near Punta Gorda in South West Florida. On the ranch land, there is a nature preserve, which you can drive through on a swamp buggy to see wildlife in their natural habitat. What I like about it is, yes, you get your gators and regular Florida wildlife, but you also get interesting wildlife like hogs, racoons, and cracker cattle. Its real swamp-life Florida.
