Registan Square is the heart of Samarkand and one of the most recognizable sights on the Silk Road. Framed by three magnificent madrasas covered in intricate blue tilework, the square was once the center of public life, where traders, scholars, and travelers gathered from across Central Asia. Even today, the scale and symmetry of the architecture are striking, making it easy to see why Registan is considered one of the great masterpieces of Islamic architecture.
I love all the colorful tilework and turquoise domes.
