The mountains in Tajikistan are enormous, with rugged terrain stretching for miles in every direction. Much of the landscape is rocky and dry, with steep slopes, loose scree, and very little vegetation at higher elevations. It’s a place where the scale of the mountains is immediately obvious, and where roads and villages often seem tiny compared to the surrounding peaks. In these photos, you can see how tiny the kids on donkeys seem next to the rocky roads and vastness of their path ahead.
