Rome: Chilling in Trastevere

A man having a cigarette on a bench in one of the narrow winding streets of Trastevere, which is a neighborhood in Rome that is great for wandering past restaurants, bars and little shops.  Trastevere has a ton of character and is buzzing and mostly pedestrian-only.  The man below was very happy to have his photo taken.

Rome: Dogs in fountains

Rome was unseasonably warm for early March, and these doggies were getting some water to cool down in some scenic fountains while out on their walks.  The top photo is just next to the Vatican.  The bottom is on Aventine Hill.

Rome: Italian Stone Pine trees

The stone pine trees are native to the Mediterranean region but to me just remind me of the rolling hills and scenery in Italy.  They are in the shape of umbrellas and seem very Rome iconic.  Below are some of the trees mixed in with the city.

Rome: Bike path along the Tiber River

Along the Tiber River runs the Lungotevere, which is a bike path that runs the length of the city.  Its great for running/cycling and lots of graffiti and people watching.

Rome: Beautiful city backdrops

Walking around Rome, I became obsessed with the beautiful city walls, doors, windows, plants, etc. To think modern city life is going on within these streets, in front of these backdrops.  The structures of the city buildings were so naturally unique - with character and history.

Rome: Everyday life with a beautiful backdrop

Regular people going about their everyday in Rome - walking dogs, meeting friends, reading the newspaper, getting some sunshine, hanging with grandkids, etc. All in front of beautiful backdrops that are unique to the city.

Rome: National Gallery of Modern Art

The National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome is a chill place to walk around and get some quiet while seeing some cool art.  The museum is not huge and not crowded, but its right next to the beautiful Villa Borghese park and a short-walk from Piazza del Popolo where I was based.
